June Clean Water

Daily activity:


Thursday 04th: water temp 78.6 ESE 9-15mph in the a.m. / 80.1 S 5-8mph. The water was clean. There were two Kings hooked in the morning with one 8-pound fish decked. Spanish Mackerel, Hardtails and small Bonita were caught but not in the numbers that we had yesterday. There was lots of live bait available. 


Friday: water temp 78.6 ENE 6-10mph in the a.m. / 81.0 SSE 15-25mph in the p.m. The water was clean. The morning was more active than the afternoon. There were 2 small Kings caught along with Spanish Mackerel, Bonita, Northern Mackerel and Hardtails. Brenda shows a sample of the early catch. The afternoon saw two more small Kings that Lane and Jen caught. In addition there were a few more Spanish, Bonita, Northern Mackerel and Hardtails. Later in the afternoon the Ladyfish and Bluefish joined the catches.

 

 

 


 

 

Saturday: water temp 78.8 E 6-9mph in the a.m. / 80.8 SSE 15-20mph in the p.m. The water was clean.  Three-to-five-pound Bonita, a few Northern Mackerel, Spanish Mackerel and Hardtails were caught. A few “snake” King Mackerel were hooked with a couple decked. Red Drum were caught in the shallows. Live bait was available

  

Sunday: water temp 80.2 S 4-6mph in the a.m. / 81.9 SW 7-10mph wind in the p.m. The water was clean. A few “Snake King Mackerel were hooked with a couple decked. Spanish Mackerel, Bonita, Northern Mackerel and Hardtails were caught. There was one huge Spanish decked. Live bait was available. 


Monday: water temp 81.1 W 5-7mph in the a.m. / 81.0 S 4-8mph in the p.m. The water was clean. Almost a dozen “snake” King Mackerel were caught early in the morning. The bite started at sunrise and was over by 05:45. The remainder of the day saw Spanish Mackerel sporadically caught. There were a few Hardtails decked. Live bait was thick from the shallows all the way to the end of the pier.

 

 


Tuesday: water temp 82.8 3-5mph in the a.m. / 82.8 S 6-9mph in the p.m. The water was clean. The morning was very active with Bonita and Spanish Mackerel. Both small and large Bonita up to 10.5-pound Bonita were decked. Kim, Tsard and Kya show some of the many Bonita that were caught. The pier was crowded with a ton of lures being cast at the same time. One rod was broken and two people got hooked. The afternoon saw a few more Bonita and a slow but steady Spanish bite. Late afternoon there were Ladyfish decked. Live bait was available- Cigar minnows, Threadfin Herring, Speedos, Spanish Sardine and Alewives.

 

 


Wednesday 10th: water temp 82.0 ENE 2-5mph in the a.m. /84.4 SSW 7-9mph in the p.m.  The water was dark but clean. There were 4 King Mackerel hooked but only 2 “snakes” decked. There were Bonita in the morning. Spanish Mackerel bit off and on throughout the day. Hardtails, Ladyfish and a few Bluefish came in late in the afternoon. Live bait was available.


Red Tide status: In Northwest Florida over the past week, K. brevis was not observed.
